Screen Printing Hinge ClampIn the first part of our series on screen printing, we covered the necessary artwork. Then in part two we covered the pre-press operations of making a screen. Part three, yet to be released, will cover the actual printing process. With this in mind, I felt it wise to go ahead and publish plans for a one color printer that I have used in the past. It can be constructed by anyone with moderate wood working skills and with the exception of a clamping system, the materials to build this press can be bought at your local hardware store for less than $50 dollars. If you choose to use the clamping system shown in the drawing, it is available on e-bay or you can purchase hinge clamps as shown here. They run about $25 a pair, just Google “screen printing clamps” to find a source.
